Can small exhaust restriction from chaff buildup quietly change cup quality that much?

I cleaned one exhaust path that was only slightly restricted by chaff, and the next batches tasted more open than I expected. Since then I wonder how many roast problems are actually maintenance problems wearing a flavor mask. Have you seen small restriction change the cup this much?

Yes. People wait for obvious smoke issue, but cup can move before that.

Agree, slow drift is the killer. Sudden failure is easier to catch than gradual restriction.

I had similar case on small roaster. No big warning sign, but after cleaning the roast felt more stable and finish less dirty.
