what data should be logged every batch? and where do you keep it?

i'm auditing data logging at the Roastery. It turns out that a lot of unrecorded or recorded data has been inconsistent. When you want to trace back the troubled batch, it's hard because the data is incomplete.

Which I capture now:
- the date and name of the operator
- origin and lot green bean
- green bean weighs.
- profile used

which is often missed:
- Weight after Zroast (to count actual shrinkage)
- first crack time and temperature
- drop temp
- An anomaly note.

Does anyone have a solid logging system? Where are the spreadsheets, special software, anything?

drop temp and first crack time are two of the most useful data for trouble shooting. If there's a batch that tastes flat or bitter, it's usually able to trace from there. Without those two, debugging batch is a problem so it's hard.

i saved the data in Artisan (.alog per session) file plus backup manual to weekly spreadsheet. duplicates are indeed, but if software problems, the data remains secure.

Artisan's a department store. How long does it take? Any limit storage or can be indefinite?

no limit on the software, but the .log per session, so if it's not organised properly to folder per lot / month, it'll be difficult later.

in addition to roast's own data, it's important to log the Zgreen bean condition when entering: moistiture level if there is a size, visual reference, and a note from the supplier. If there's a department at the end, we can see if the problem is from green bean or the Zroasting process.

there's a special software handle. It's all integrated. No? It's like if the data gets out at Artisan, Excel gets separated, and manual records, it's still a high human error risk.

Clorofile itu salah satu yang gue tau dirancang untuk integrate data roast dengan sisi operasional lainnya. kalau mau data logging yang tidak terpisah-pisah, worth dicek.

whatever the system is, the most critical is input consistency. a month's complete data continues to empty two weeks of no use for long-term analysis.
