jadi tadi pagi gw baru aja buang 4kg kopi karena salah roast. background ceritanya: gw lupa ganti profile waktu ganti origin. jadi gw roast Flores Bajawa pakai profile Aceh Gayo yg dark. hasilnya? gosong di luar, bitter banget, gak bisa diselamatkan.

gw udah punya backup stok untungnya jadi order customer gak ketunda, tapi tetep aja nyesek karena itu 4kg green bean harganya lumayan.

nah gw mau nanya sekaligus curhat: kesalahan roasting paling parah yg pernah lo alamin itu apa? dan ada ga cara recover batch yg udah kebablasan dark tapi belum terlalu gosong?

pengen ngerti juga: kalau udah terlanjur over-roasted dikit (bukan sampe gosong), masih bisa dijual ke mana atau dijadiin apa?

duh was in his face. I've also seen similar events, not forgotten the profile but forgot to shut down the automasted profile and the machine returned to about 230C more. 3kg of Silimpoeng is charcoal. I could just sit there and watch the smoke come out.

for an overroasted, some can be done: 2) sell it to a customer who likes dark roast and usually less sensitive about off-flavor subtil. 3).

my story: Once charged bean to a drum that wasn't hot enough because I was in a hurry. So roast roads but initial temperatures are too low, the seed result is too long in drying phase and so badly baked. No burn, no visual issue, but a total flat taste. That's what makes it even worse because it doesn't look so bad from where it's being picked up.

this one's more dangerous than the outside. if the burn knew it was wrong, the mouth was found in the customer's hand

iya persis. makanya sekarang gw selalu cupping tiap batch sebelum dipacking. mending ketauan sendiri daripada customer yg komplain.

i once dialed a stop on the software and then roast walked itself to 225C. Luckily I'm still on the engine so I can emergency stop manual. Still 2kg must be removed. Since then I've never lived a road machine alone and even made it to the bathroom for a while.

thanks for sharing this, so I know I'm not alone either. [laughs] Last month I wrote the wrong charge well, I should have filled out 2.5 pounds. The profile's gone too far, first crack hasn't met in the usual timing. The results are very strange. It's a small batch, so it's worth a little bit.

it's a very healing thread. Basically all roaster must have lost a batch. The only thing that matters is being taught and making SOP not to repeat it. The checklist before Zroast wasn't exaggerated, it saved your bean.
