Are more teams separating production planning from roasting execution to reduce daily chaos?

I hear more roasteries now giving planning responsibility to one person or one small team, while operators focus only on roasting and execution. The argument is simple: if the same person keeps planning, roasting, and solving dispatch surprises, everything becomes reactive. Is this separation becoming necessary earlier than before?

Yes, because context switching kills attention on the floor.

True, even partial separation makes morning production calmer.

When one operator must also answer stock question, change plan, and still roast, usually all jobs become half-finished. Separate role helps once volume already busy every day.

Small teams cannot fully separate, but they can at least separate shift responsibility.

Reactive mode feels heroic but scales badly.
