Is lot status locking becoming necessary now to stop accidental use of QC-hold coffee?

More roasteries are carrying many micro lots and temporary QC-hold bags now. I keep hearing stories where the wrong lot gets pulled into production because the system only shows stock, not release status clearly enough. Is hard lot locking becoming necessary, even for teams that still think spreadsheets are enough?

If QC-hold coffee can still appear like normal stock, mistake is only waiting for the right bad day.

Soft warning is usually ignored under pressure. Hard block changes behavior faster.

I think lock is needed. Human memory not enough when bags moving fast and many partial lots already open in warehouse.

Color label alone is not enough once shift changes happen.

We had one near miss and added status block right after that.
