batch size rule 70% of the machine's capacity is really important? Or can you skip it?

i have roaster 5kg. Everyone says the ideal Zbatch size is 70% by 3.5. But honestly, I've been filling it for 4-4.5kg.

All this time there's been no trouble. Taste ok, no burn, no complaints from customer.

So the question is, the 70% rule where did it come from? And if it's broken, but the results are ok, then that doesn't matter, does it?

Or is there a long-term effect that I'm not noticed?

70% rule is not just about direct taste, it's about airflow and thermal in the drum. If the batch is too big, the airflow is blocked by the seeds too tight. That's because smokes and chaffs aren't so good, and they make a subtlety smoky off- flavor. You may not be aware of your usual, but sensitive customer can sense it.

smoky off flavor. Or I'm the one who's less sensitive. cupping myself. [laughs]

long-term effects are often ignored: engine wear is faster. drum bearing, motors, and healing element overloaded more when the batch overloads constantly. it may not have felt like it in six months or something, but after three to four years it could be discovered.

i also overloaded the batch, so my RR profile was hard to replicate. If batch size changes between 3.5 and 4.5kg, the thermal mass is hit by a different machine, so the same profile can give us the results.

this is the most connected problem I've ever had. I've changed a lot of batch size depends on the order. Maybe this is also why my results are different sometimes when the profile is the same.

there you go. If you want to be consistent, batch size must be locked down. select one number and stick to it.

mesinnya apa? beberapa mesin emang punya toleransi lebih longgar soal batch size, terutama yg punya drum desain khusus. tapi prinsip umumnya tetap sama: makin konsisten batch size, makin mudah lo kontrol profil.
