heard first crack and second crack in roasting videos but never heard live

How does it sound? Do you have a tire? And usually it comes up in temperature or what time?

That first crack sound like popcorn, but slower. Little pop sounds that start sporadic and get crowded for a while. In the drum machine, usually starts at a range of temperature bean temperature 60-205 degrees Celsius, about 8-12 depending on the profile.

That second crack is faster and more crackly, like the sound of replenished paper but more intense. happening at higher temperatures, approximately 224-230 degrees. It's a seed sign starting in. Territory medium-dark to dark Zroast.

i just heard this term too. If you've heard of first crack, what's there to do? Did it just stop or was there time there?

once first crack starts, usually the roastmaster starts counting "Zdevelopment time" or DT. for light Zroast that can be 1-2 minutes after first crack starts. The medium can be 2-3 minutes. Dark up or past second crack.

in a small machine or a budget machine that insulates less, first crack is sometimes harder to hear because of drum noise. That's why a lot of combine saw temperature charts with listening. In a good seal machine, the sound is clearer.
