collar coffee drop is like streetwear hype but make coffee?

just found out about this model from a video on YouTube about coffee specialty U.S. so two roaster collab, production a limited lot, sold in a short-term window like a few days or even hours. There's no rest.

It's the same model as the way Supreme sells streetwear. The accidental scarcity was created urgery and FOMOS.

Which got me confused: is this a long-term superstable? Or is this more of a one-time hype moment that doesn't repeat well?

pernah beli collab drop dari dua roaster luar. emang hype-nya real. tapi kopi-nya harus genuinely bagus, karena kalau orang udah bayar premium price buat "rare drop" tapi rasanya biasa aja, backlash-nya keras.

gw skeptis. model ini works pas market-nya udah ada fanbase yang engaged. kalau dua roaster yang belum punya dedicated following collab dan bikin drop, siapa yang mau rush beli?

it's true. the prerequism is that each of you has a loyal audience. if one of them isn't strong enough, the colllab drops won't be the general buzz they want.

exactly. and that two brand audience should not be too overlap. 80% of the fans are the same, the total reacher is not that different from a solo release.

i read that there was a roaster Bandung who tried this with roaster Jakarta. It's not bad because they have audiences in different cities that don't overlap. But the volume is too small so the business impact is limited too.

if you want to try this, there's a minimum preference that needs to be thought about. not from the side of packing, pricing, and distribution? the common man is confused where to begin.

packaging is a huge investment if only for limited runs.
