Are barcode-based packing workflows finally worth it for medium-size roasteries?

A few operators I spoke with say barcode scanning started to make sense only after packing errors became expensive, not before. For medium-size roasteries it still looks like extra setup, printer issues, and staff training. Are barcode-based packing workflows finally worth it now, or still too much system for the gain?

Worth it when SKU count starts climbing and label mistakes become weekly problem.

Good point. Barcode helps after process discipline exists, not before it.

Maybe not needed too early, but when team already tired and rush packing happens, scan step can save many small human mistake.

Hardware annoyance is real, but wrong bag cost is also real.

If master data is messy, barcode only makes the mess faster.
