Is customs clearance now becoming a bigger delay point than ocean freight itself?

Ocean transit gets most attention, but some traders tell me customs and inspection delays now create the more unpredictable part. The vessel arrives, but cargo still does not move. Is customs clearance becoming the bigger bottleneck now?

In some destinations yes. Ocean side improved a bit, but local clearance still creates surprise delay.

We see this also. Ship already arrive but release process still long, so planning on roasting side become difficult.

Yes, port to warehouse timing is now less trustworthy than before.

Small paperwork inconsistency can stretch many days once customs starts asking questions.

And nobody wants to promise ETA after vessel arrival anymore because of this.
