heat recovery system di roaster itu beneran bisa hemat berapa persen energi?

ada beberapa roaster yang punya sistem heat recovery: panas dari exhaust gas yang biasanya terbuang, di-capture dan dipakai kembali untuk pre-heat incoming air atau untuk aplikasi lain.

secara teori memang masuk akal. roasting itu buang panas banyak lewat exhaust. kalau sebagian bisa di-recover, efisiensi keseluruhan meningkat.

tapi saya belum pernah ketemu angka yang reliable soal berapa persen penghematan aktualnya di kondisi operasional nyata, bukan di lab. ada yang sudah implement atau punya data dari vendor yang bisa diverifikasi?

i read a report once from one of the Roasters in Europe that installed heat recovery at their 30 kg setup. The numbers they claim are about 20-35% reduction in gas consumption per batch. But their condition: a continuous operation 8 hours a day. For the roasting 2-3 hours a day, the benighs are much smaller.

the efficiency of heat recovery is very dependent equal temperature differential. Exhaust temperature roasting can be 200-350 degrees Celsius, depending on profile and afterburner. The hotter the exhaust, the greater the procovery potential. When there's an afterburner that drop temp exhaust, his recovery potential is diminished.

the trade-off to consider: adding heat recovery system means adding complexity and potential failure point. for the roastry priority of operation and uptime, it may not be worth adding another critical component that can fail.

from the literature of the food industry's process: thermal efficiency is typical heat recovery system in range 40-70% depending on design. but it's in the optimal industrial scale. for a rostery scale, the reality is lower than that.

i'm curious: If the gas savings is 25%, and the system's installation price is up, when will BEP be achieved? That's what you need to hit before you say it's worth it or not.

if assuming 25% gas-efficient, and roasting volume is high enough, it could be 3-5 years in ideal conditions. But if there's downtime or volume fluctuating.

there are other aspects: in some cities, there are incentives or subsidies for installation of energy efficiency systems in the industry. If we can get subsidies, it could accelerate significantly.
