hybrid drum plus airflow is genuinelly more flexible or just a marketing hybrid?

ada kategori mesin roasting yang positioningnya sebagai "hybrid", drum tetap ada tapi airflow control-nya lebih sophisticated, bisa kasih panas predominantly dari udara bukan dari drum saja.

konsepnya: bisa dial in lebih konduksi-heavy atau lebih konveksi-heavy tergantung kebutuhan profil. butuh caramelization lebih? naikkan kontribusi drum. butuh development lebih even? increase airflow.

yang gue belum yakin: apakah roastmaster di lapangan beneran bisa leverage flexibility ini? atau akhirnya kebanyakan orang pakai setting default yang udah proven, dan hybrid feature-nya jadi tidak terpakai?

i think it's about training and documentation. If you buy an expensive machine with a hybrid feature but there's no systematic way to log and compare profile with a different airflow setting.

on the regular pitch: new roastmaster comes in, meets hybrid engines with multiple parameters, instantly overhelped. they copy profiles that were already the way of the previous roadmaster and don't touch the hybrid parameters at all. the flexible doesn't work.

to be honest, i'm a little curious as to this flexible claim. if it's possible to reproduce a switch between conduction-heavy and connection-heavy, there should be a clear documentation of what percent of the difference is in actual heat transfer rate. i've never seen that file from the vendor.

valid concern. banyak vendor ngomong "up to X% airflow contribution" tapi itu measured gimana? setiap vendor punya cara ukur sendiri dan tidak ada standar industri buat bandingkan antar mesin.

as a recently learned roasting, it's a smaller engine with fewer parameters that's more helpful. Complexity isn't always good if you're still at the understanding bations stage. Hybrids may be good for expert, but not for everyone.

some have longitudinal data: Using the hybrid machine, how many actual profiles use airflow controls are different than the default? curious about the actual age rate of this feature.

gue pikir hybrid worth it untuk roastery yang roasting banyak origin berbeda dengan karakteristik berbeda. light roast Ethiopia butuh profil yang berbeda dengan dark roast Robusta. kemampuan untuk adjust heat transfer mode itu jadi relevan kalau volume dan varietasnya cukup.
