The real first crack voice confused, which is just random, please help

hi everyone, sorry if this is such a basic question

So I started Zroasting for about two months using the Ikawa home ZZZCF001Z. They say first crack sounds "pop," but what I hear is more like. That krauss crauss? Or sometimes it's just one or two pop.

Some say first crack can be seen from the seed expansion too. I'll try to see it but it's hard, especially if roasting is alone and hearing sounds from the outside as well.

My question:
1. How loud is "real" pop? Because what I'm hearing is not really that tight on youtube.
2. If you don't listen to first crack, then roast is too much, right?
3. In Ikawa, what's the temperature normally Zfirst crack?

Thank you. I have a lot to learn

haha relax, I was so confused. That first crack isn't always as tight as in youtube videos, it's usually been edited or used a biggie. In Ikawa the home version of his voice tends to softer because his batchis are small. The important thing is that you focus on the consistency of the pop, not the violence of the voice.

Right at dawn. And for question number two, if you don't listen at all there are two possibilities: What's the latest temperature? When 220s Celsius goes up and there's still no sound, it's likely to pass first crack.

oh gitu ya kak, waktu itu saya stop di sekitar 210 kayaknya. berarti mungkin belum sampe first crack? terus kopinya underroasted dong huhu

it's possible underroasted that it stopped at 210 before first crack. Try extending until you actually hear the crack, just start counting development time from there.

Ikawa home is a different character. I use Ikawa Pro and first crack usually shows up around 195-200C but that depends on the bean too. Natural processing is usually more "rame" than her voice, washed more quietly. Let's record it on cell phone and listen to it. It's usually more likely.

oh, my God, that phone record idea is genius! Try it on tonight. Thanks, Tommy

one more tip, try roast while closing ears from outside noise first. Or use an empty earpiece to help focus. It sounds a lot but it really helped the first time learn haha

don't panic over the first crack twice. It's part of the learning process. The important thing is that each session, for a long time you'll be familiar with the sound of your own machine because each machine is a different character.
