collaboration for education and training, is this an investment or a quality?

The SCA Barista Skills Program has issued over 100,000 globally certification per data 2022. In Indonesia the adoption of this structured program is still very limited to our industrial potential.

One of the models I see is starting to grow: the coffee brand collaborates with the hotel school or the SMK for the internship program or the extra curriculum. The brand of love equipments and raw materials, the school's allowing access to barista candidates and distribution channels to the hospital industry.

From the pure business side, this might look like Charity. But the barista pipeline is well-trained. It's an industrial benefit as a whole, including the brand that invests into this training.

Has anyone ever been involved in a collaboration model like this?

not charity, it's a talent pipeline investment. if we were training barista from the beginning, and they had brand dignity about the way we approach quality, there's a chance they prefer our product when they start working or open themselves.

there are more direct models: barista competition that are supported by coffee brand. winner can mentor and product supply free for a year. the brand can expose to enged barista community.

from the roastery side that once tried to colllab with the school, his biggest challenge is the schedule. the school has a rigorous academic calendar, while in the coffee industry there's a season peason whose timing is different.

and if the equipments given to the school are not properly watched, experience that students receive is less ideal. there's a cost hidden in this colllab education to be reckoned with.

a model that may be more reliable: more controlled than the maintainer and consistency experience.

colllab research with the university is angle who hasn't spent much. if there's a department of food technology or agriculture that wants to research about pre@@.
